Islamabad : President Asif Ali Zardari Sunday left on a one-day visit to India, where he will meeting Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh over lunch and and pray at a Sufi shrine in Ajmer.
The president’s cavalcade sped out of Punjab Governor House and reached the Lahore airport from where Zardari left for New Delhi at about 10.40 a.m., Geo News reported.
In the first presidential visit from Pakistan in the last seven years, Zardari is accompanied by an over 40-member delegation that includes his son Bilawal.
After touching down in Delhi at 11.30 a.m. Sunday, Zardari would head straight to the prime minister’s official residence at 7 Race Course Road for the one-on-one talks, followed by lunch with senior members of the delegation. He would later fly to Ajmer to offer prayers at the revered shrine of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti.
