The bandh call has been given by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) which is protesting the provisions of the new act under which proper sanitation should be maintained in a shop. Unhygienic shops would be fined Rs.1 lakh. The bill also states that items like “samosas” and “kachoris” should be served packed. Protestors say that the provisions of the act are too tough and aimed to promote multinational eateries and restaurants.

Radhay Shyam Maheshwari, national president of CAIT said, “The FSS Act rules have been made to favour multinational corporations.”
