Patna : Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Friday emphasised that he would visit Mumbai to attend the Bihar Diwas celebrations Sunday even though the event has run into severe opposition from the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS).
“The Bihar Diwas celebration in Mumbai is a socio-cultural event, not a political function,” Nitish Kumar told reporters.
“I will visit Mumbai to attend Bihar Diwas celebrations,” Nitish Kumar said in response to MNS chief Raj Thackeray’s remarks. The latter has challenged the Bihar chief minister to enter the city for Sunday’s celebrations.
Nitish Kumar had earlier said he was “free to travel anywhere in the country and do not need a visa to come to Mumbai”.
The MNS, which has often protested the presence of migrant labour from north India in Mumbai, has been bitterly opposing Bihar Day in Mumbai.
