Four Garo rebels arrested in Meghalaya

Shillong : Border Security Force (BSF) troopers Monday arrested four Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) rebels along the India-Bangladesh border in Meghalaya, officials said.

All the four rebels were detained from Borsora area, the coal-rich area of the newly created district of South West Khasi Hills while they were extorting money from a businessman, BSF spokesman Ravi Gandhi said.

He said the four arrested rebels were identified as B. Marak, Habitson B. Marak, Marchis Sangma and Apching A. Sangma.

The troopers also recovered two mobile phones with one Bangladeshi SIM card and some Indian currency from their possession.

The four have been handed over to Meghalaya Police.
