Dire situation in Assam relief camps; donation requested

Guwahati: Assam branch of All India Secular Forum (AISF) has appealed for donation of essential items for residents of camps displaced as a result of violence in Assam.

Communal violence between Bodos and Muslims have killed at least 74 and rendered over four lakhs homeless. Prime Minister has announced relief of Rs. 300 crores and there are many organizations that are working to provide food, clothing, and medicines still many camps are in dire situation.

Over four lakhs victims have taken shelter in more than three hundred relief camps and many are staying with the relatives.

“People in the relief camps are suffering a lot. They are not getting sufficient relief either from the government or non-government agencies to live a normal life,” observed AISF.
