Jaipur : A team of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials seized about 100 kg of ketamine, a banned drug, from a house in the city and arrested a man and his son Friday, sources said.
The father-son duo was held from the house in Jagatpura area after several days’ surveillance, the sources added.
Ketamine is a medicinal drug used as a veterinary anaesthetic, but in recent years its abuse as a date rape drug has gained notoriety in Europe, the US, Southeast Asia and India.
Sources close to the DRI said: “The accused men used to smuggle the drug to America through courier companies. During preliminary investigation, it has come up that the duo, whose identity is not being revealed, was involved in the drug smuggling for the past few years. Their interrogation is going on.”
“They will be booked under sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act,” said an officer.
