Condemning the police firing, Maulana Mahmood Madani, General Secretary, Jamiat Ulama-I-HInd demanded from the government of Maharashtra to immediately suspend Police Commissioner Aroop Patnaik for ordering the firing. Maulana Madani suspected that “it was done on the behest of some communal elements in politics and administration who are not willing any protest and agitation against killing of Muslims in Assam.”

Some communal elements including BJP leader L.K. Advani are adding salt to the wounds of victims by raising the bogey of infiltration from Bangladesh in the riot- hit Assam to dilute the gravity of the worst humanitarian crisis, said Maualna Madani. He also challenged Advani to substantiate his claim about Bangladeshi infiltrators.

Maulan Madani lamented the Mumbai police firing saying it was done in haste. The police should have acted fast in Assam.

Maulana demanded disciplinary action against the Police Commissioner and those involved in the firing.
