Indo-Arab forum to promote cultural ties

Thiruvananthapuram: A forum has been formed in south Indian state Kerala to strengthen centuries-old cultural relations between India and the Arab world, Press Trust of India reported. The Indo-Arab Cultural Academy (IACA), created based on an initiative of political leaders, writers and entrepreneurs, seeks to boost and diversify cultural and social ties between India and the Gulf in line with changing times.

It would help promote translations of Arabic literary works into Malayalam and vice versa, apart from organising cultural exchanges, workshops and launching various publications. M K Raghavan, congress leader and Lok Sabha (Lower House of Indian Parliament) member from Kozhikode, was named chairman of the forum and writer B M Suhra as his deputy, and renowned Malayalam writer Akbar Kakkattil will take on the role of co-ordinator.
