Hyderabad : The families of five Indian software professionals killed in a car crash on a highway near Oklahoma city in the US were plunged into gloom Saturday and appealed to the government to bring back their bodies.
The parents of R.Srinivas were shocked as the car disaster cut short the dreams of their 26-year-old son. Gloom descended on their house at Aditya Nagar in Mehdipatnam as relatives and friends poured in to express their condolences.
The five techies from Andhra Pradesh were killed when their out-of-control Chevrolet Camaro hit a tractor-trailer and burst into flames.
Srinivas went to the US a year ago after completing his B.Tech here. Son of Bhumaiah, a retired employee of Singareni Collieries Company Limited, he was working with ITL Developers in the US.
A native of Karimnagar district, Bhumaiah’s family shifted to Hyderabad recently after his retirement from Singareni.
Two of the victims were from Hyderabad while the other two were from other districts of the state. All of them had begun work recently after completing their education.
Gade Phanindra, a native of Khammam district, was the only son of Gade Sivaprasad, a farmer.
According to the family members, he had gone to the US three years ago and after completing the education, he joined a firm nine months ago. Phanindra had plans to get married soon and his parents were looking for a girl for him.
The other victims have been identified as Jaswanth Reddy Subbayyagari, Anurag Anthati and Venkat.
The families appealed to the government to arrange for bringing their bodies to Hyderabad.
The Telugu Association of North America (TANA) is making necessary arrangements to send the bodies to India. Last year, eight people from the state were killed in two accidents.
Four people, including three techies, were killed in a collision of two cars near Detroit in October. In a similar car crash in May last year, four students were killed while returning from Illinois to St Louis in Missouri.
