The statement follows rumours of impending attacks on people from the northeast in other parts of the country, following violent clashes in Assam, earlier this month.

“In view of the recent reports indicating apprehension in the minds of the people from the northeastern parts of the country, regarding their safety and security in certain parts of the country… Government of Goa assures the people from northeast living in Goa that their safety and security is of prime concern to the Government and that there is no cause to worry,” the statement reads.

“The government has taken all measures including sensitising the district administration and police machinery throughout the state. If any person apprehends any threat to his or her safety and security, he or she may get in touch with the nearest police station or the police control room for immediate assistance,” it adds.
