Shimla: A portion of the historic Ridge in front of the Gaiety Theatre caved in again Monday due to heavy rains, an official said.
However, there is no immediate threat to the Town Hall building, now housing the municipality, and the Gaiety Theatre on the Ridge.
“The matter (maintenance of the Ridge) is pending with the government,” Municipal Commissioner M.P. Sood told IANS.
“The government wants to involve a single agency to restore the entire Ridge. The cabinet is yet to decide which agency should be involved,” he added.
In the last five years, the Ridge has developed cracks for the fourth time.
