Delhi officials instructed to spread awareness on night shelters

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Saturday instructed officials of the Delhi Urban Slum Improvement Board (DUSIB) to work in tandem with NGOs to create awareness about the night shelters for homeless people in the capital.

The chief minister said the board should also ensure that 84 temporary and 66 permanent night shelters in the city are utilised to their full capacity in winter, an official said.

After inspecting the shelters, Dikshit said that all the shelters were fully operational.

She also asked DUSIB chief executive Shakti Sinha to review the operations of the shelters on regular basis.
