Patna : Bihar’s first KFC outlet has been sealed as it was running without a licence, state Food Commissioner Sanjay Kumar said Friday.
“KFC’s newly opened outlet was sealed by concerned officials after the franchisee failed to produce a licence to run it,” Sanjay Kumar told IANS.
Kumar said KFC had been asked to close its outlet till it procured a proper licence to run it.
“Now, action would be initiated for violating the rule,” he said.
The outlet, which opened in the Regent Cinema premises near Gandhi maidan in October, was sealed Thursday night.
Samples of food and spices collected from the outlet here had been sent for examination to a government owned laboratory, added Surendra Kumar, another official.
“KFC outlet has applied for a licence and it is under process,” a KFC official said on condition of anonymity.
KFC is a leading brand of US-based Yum Brands Inc.
