Raipur : The Chhattisgarh cabinet Monday approved the state’s proposed Food Security Bill and will soon send it to the governor for his approval, an official said.
After the approval, the bill will be tabled in the state assembly during the ongoing winter session itself.
Notably, National Food Security Bill (NFSB) of the union government is pending and if this bill is passed by the state assembly, Chhattisgarh will become the first state in the country to pass it.
The state cabinet which met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Raman Singh at Mantralaya in Naya Raipur approved the draft Food Security Bill, the official said.
Chhattisgarh is the first state of the country which is working on the Food Security Bill meant to provide food security to the poor.
