A statement from the association said IAP members wore black ribbons or armbands, or pinned a piece of black cloth on their coats while rendering professional services Wednesday.

“We strongly condemn the recent brutal gang-rape and sexual assault of one of our members. This dastardly act is outrageous and despicable and should serve as a warning to perpetrators that such actions will not go unpunished,” IAP president Umasankar Mohanty said.

The 23-year-old woman was brutally raped and tortured Sunday night when she and her friend after watching a movie boarded a private bus at Munirka in south Delhi to go to Dwarka in west Delhi. The woman was beaten up and raped by at least six men inside the running bus. Her friend was beaten up too.

The victim, a physiotherapist from Uttam Nagar and her friend, a 28-year-old software engineer, had gone to the Select Citywalk mall in Saket for a movie.
