Kerala prays for Delhi rape victim

Thiruvananthapuram : Hundreds of people at Technopark here Thursday evening lit candles and prayed for the speedy recovery of the hapless Delhi girl who was brutally raped Sunday night in a moving bus.

The event started at the IT park with the reading of a poem. Techies working at the Technopark and others condemned the incident and wanted stringent laws to protect women against all sorts of immoral behaviour towards them.

The meeting ended with a prayer for the speedy recovery of the girl.

Meanwhile, Kerala Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan informed the state assembly that a four member women India Police Service (IPS) officers team led by Inspector General of Police B. Sandhya has been formed to specially deal with cases of atrocities against women in the state.

“We will request the Kerala High Court to see that a special fast track court be set up to deal with cases where women are victims,” said Radhakrishnan.
