Houston : One person was killed and at least 17 others were injured in a series of accidents triggered by a dust storm in the US state of Texas, Xinhua reported.
Twenty-three vehicles were involved in a series of crashes in Texas Wednesday. Wind gusts reduced visibility in some parts to near zero.
About an eight-km stretch of the Interstate 27 highway was closed because of the dust storm. Officials attributed the storm to a prolonged drought.
The storm also reportedly dropped power lines, cutting electricity to about 1,000 households in various areas.
