Shimla: The newly elected Congress legislators in Himachal Pradesh Saturday adopted a one-line resolution here authorising party chief Sonia Gandhi to announce the next chief minister of the state.
The resolution was moved by state party chief Virbhadra Singh, and seconded by Vidya Stokes – who won the polls the eighth time and Kaul Singh, a former state chief.
The opposition Congress drubbed the BJP in the state assembly polls, winning 36 out of 68 seats Thursday.
The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting was attended by 34 out of 36 party MLAs, who romped home.
Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and AICC general secretary Janardhan Dwivedi attended the meeting.
