Christians, who form just 1.6 percent of Pakistan’s population, attended Christmas Mass Monday midnight and prayed for peace and stability in the country, Geo News reported.

Churches in Karachi, Quetta, Lahore and Peshawar were decorated with lights.

But a church here in the capital was threatened with attack for organising a prayer service for teenaged rights activist Malala Yousafzai who was shot by the Taliban, the Dawn said.

Police in Islamabad stepped up security around churches after the Our Lady of Fatima Church received an anonymous letter.

Men dressed as Santa Claus distributed gifts to children.

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement arranged a special ceremony for Christians in Karachi.
