BJP Manifesto: Will abolish 4.5% minority sub-quota

Lucknwo: Bharatiya Janata Party has strongly opposed the 4.5% minority quota carved out of the 27% OBC quota, and promised to abolish it if it came to power in Uttar Pradesh. BJP opposed reservation on the basis of religion in its election manifesto released in Lucknow on 1st February.

“BJP strongly opposes reservation policy on the basis of religion. The UPA govt.’s decision to give 4.5% quota to minorities is nothing but votebank politics. This 4.5% sub-quota has been taken out from the quota for OBCs,” said the party in manifesto. The party said that if it came to power it will abolish this sub-quota.

The party has made high promises on corruption free government and society.
“The party is committed for good governance and clean politics. The party is committed for a society free from corruption and crime, and for welfare and social justice,” the party manifesto reads.

The party has also made some promises for farmers and weavers.

Regarding media, the party has promised a modern press club in each district, pension for part-time journalists and development of rural journalism.
