New Delhi : More than 100 people blocked streets and raised slogans Friday after a 25-year-old woman was kidnapped from a crowded area here, witnesses said.
Kiran Negi was seized by the abductors and dragged into their car from near a Hanuman temple in west Delhi’s Chhawla area Thursday evening. She was returning home from work.
Her father, Harpal Singh Negi, was alerted by a witness.
The distraught father approached the police station in the area Thursday night but officials there only registered a complaint and brusquely asked him to go back home, said a resident.
Furious, more than 100 people poured into a key road Friday and staged a noisy protest against the police attitude.
Senior officials who intervened then registered a case of kidnapping.
