Lucknow : Twenty-five peons at the Directorate of Census Operations here have been handpicked to be “micro observers” in the fourth round of Uttar Pradesh assembly elections here Feb 19.
The Directorate of Census Operations office at Indiranagar received the Election Commission order two days ago, official sources said Saturday.
Also picked with the 25 peons — who form Group D government staff — are senior gazzetted officers.
The district election office has sent them a training schedule for Sunday when they will be told how to handle their election related work.
Of the 300-odd employees at the Directorate, 143 have been picked for election duty.
