Amaresh Gangappa Buddini, of Buddini village in Raichur district, about 400 km north of Bangalore, was questioned but no case was filed as the number was dialled unknowingly, Inspector General of Police Mohammed Wazir Ahmed told reporters in Raichur Monday.

The call was made some two months ago and Amaresh was quizzed after Pakistani foreign ministry alerted their Indian counterparts, he said.

Amaresh, who works as an assistant at a coaching centre in Sindhnur near his village, told police that some students might have used his phone to make a prank call to a random number, which happened to be that of Khar.

The incident came to light following reports in local media that a Raichur youth has been questioned for making a lewd call to Khar.
