BJP government in Chhattisgarh most corrupt: Congress

Raipur : Congress Wednesday attacked Chhattisgarh’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, terming it as the most corrupt in the country.

Addressing a party meeting in Maoist-affected Sukma district, Congress general secretary B.K. Hariprasad, who is also the in-charge for the state, said: “This BJP regime is the most corrupt one in the country, the entire government is involved in misappropriating money being received by the state under various central government schemes.”

He made the remark at the presence of senior state Congress leaders, including state party chief Nandkumar Patel and Leader of Opposition Ravindra Choubey.

Senior Congress leaders and former union ministers V.C. Shukla and Arvind Netam also attended the convention which was held in the district that was carved out of Dantewada district last month.

Hariprasad appealed to the party workers to expose the BJP’s alleged misrule ahead of the assembly elections in 2013.

Patel said that Chief Minister Raman Singh should explain how the tribal population in the state had fallen below 3.5 percent. He also need to answer why nearly 10,000 farmers committed suicide in recent years.

Sukma, located nearly 450 km south of Raipur, comes under the violence-hit sprawling Bastar region where the BJP won 11 out of the total 12 assembly constituencies in 2008. The Congress won just in Sukma constituency.
