Abu Dhabi : Leaders of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have met top officials from Kazakhstan, Russia, Qatar, Oman, Tunisia and Norway to discuss ways for boosting ties.
President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan met Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev and exchanged views on the latest developments at the regional and international levels.
Nazarbayev said he was pleased to visit the UAE, and welcomed new joint UAE-Kazakh projects and opening of new avenues for economic investment and tourism between the two countries.
Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan met his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov and discussed bilateral relations and the situation in the region, especially in Syria.
Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, ruler of Sharjah, met Qatar’s ambassador to the UAE, Abdullah Mohammed Al Othman, and reviewed bilateral ties.
Sheikh Sultan also met Salem bin Nasser Al Maskri, secretary general of higher education in Oman, and Mohammed bin Saad Al Muqadem, head of the history department at the Sultan Qaboos University in Oman.
The two sides discussed issues related to cooperation in education and research.
UAE Vice President and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum met Qatar ambassador to UAE Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Othman and discussed a number of important issues.
Ways to enhance relations between the UAE and Norway were discussed by UAE’s Assistant Foreign Minister for International Organisations and special envoy to Afghanistan and Pakistan Saeed Mohammed Al-Shamsi and visiting Norwegian state secretary at the ministry of foreign affairs Torgeir Larsen.
Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, ruler of Ajman, received Tarek Baltayeb, Tunisian ambassador to the UAE, and reviewed bilateral relations.
