According to Shanghai Metro police, the woman pickpocket who punched Molly Wang in the belly and tried to flee has been caught. The stolen cell phone has been returned to the victim, the Shanghai Daily reported.

Wang’s employer, an internet company, rewarded her with 10,000 yuan (over $1,500) for her brave act.

Wang has been widely praised for her heroic act performed two days ago. She was visited Tuesday by the victim – surnamed Xue – to thank her in person.

Though Shanghai police praised Wang’s heroism, they said they don’t encourage such an act as it could be dangerous.

“My parents are also worried about my safety but I have my own principles,” Wang said, adding that she will not hesitate to stop a thief in future also.
