New Delhi : The Bharatiya Janata Party Wednesday called upon all political parties to oppose any curbs on the Election Commission.
“This is an attempt to curb the powers of the Election Commissionm,” BJP leader Yashwant Sinha told reporters here.
“I think all political parties … should stand up and oppose this move of the government.”
He spoke on a day a group of ministers (GoM) on corruption is to meet. Ministers have denied that the meeting will consider taking the model code of conduct out of the purview of the Election Commission.
Sinha said: “The denial by some of the ministers has already been exposed. I hope they will desist from moving it.”
