Stay ordered on warrant against Bhanwari case accused

By IANS,

Jodhpur : The Rajasthan High Court Thursday stayed for 12 days the arrest warrant against the sister of a legislator arrested for the kidnapping and killing of nurse Bhanwari Devi asking her to appear before the CBI by March 5 for interrogation, a lawyer said.

The arrest warrant had been issued by a court here against Indra Bisnoi, the sister of Luni legislator Malkhan Singh Bishnoi who has been arrested in the case. When she failed to turn up before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), a CBI court ordered the attachment of her properties.

“We had filed an application in the court requesting stay on the arrest warrant. The conditional stay was granted by the court till March 5,” said Indra Bisnoi’s lawyer Manoj Garg.

He added that if she did not appear before the CBI by March 5, the arrest warrant will again come into effect.

“Indra Bisnoi is the only major suspect who is on the run in the case,” a source in the CBI said.
