Former BSP minister joins BJP

Lucknow: There are no permanent friends or foes in politics. This age old adage was once again justified with the joining of Babu Singh Kushwaha to saffron brigade on Tuesday.

Hardly 15 days ago, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kirit Somaiyya arrived at Lucknow with a bunch of papers. In the presence of newsmen, Somaiyya claimed that he has a dossier of corruption charges in National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) against the then family welfare minister Babu Singh Kushwaha. The papers were presented to Lokayukta who is conducting an enquiry.

Kushwaha once a close aide of CM Mayawati fell apart after he was removed from ministerial berth. Once a trusted aide, Kushwaha even shot off letter to PM and CM claiming life threat to him. He accused senior cabinet minister of UP Naseemuddin Siddiqui for conspiring against him.

Since then facing a CBI enquiry, Kushwaha was not seen much in Lucknow. The multi crore NRHM scam even had claimed life of two CMO and one Dy CMO. CM Mayawati removed Kushwaha and another health minister AK Mishra from their posts.

Presently CBI is probing the case. There are reports that Kushwaha may turn CBI approver.

Another sacked minister Badshah Singh who belongs to Hamirpur also joined BJP. However, nothing much is read in his joining as he is known for switching loyalties.
