Congress activists across the state have been asked to get the details of corruption as well as criminal cases pending against BJP leaders since the party came to power in 2003.

The Congress has issued a two-page, 13-point form to all party members to find out about the BJP leaders’ property, their actual economic condition in 2003 and now, and the criminal cases against them.

“They (BJP leaders) always claim that they are very clean in terms of corruption and crime but practically it is not the fact. So by this exercise we want to know about their actual status,” Congress spokesman J.P. Dhanopia told IANS.

“We have also demanded proof from our cadres and leaders about a particular person they list on their form. In this exercise, even if we come across 100 such leaders across the state, it would be a big achievement. All this will help us in fight against BJP and their anti-corruption cry in future,” he added.

However, BJP leaders are not much afraid of the Congress initiative.

“Our state president Prabhat Jha has already told to our party leaders to declare their assets so there is nothing to worry on Congress plan,” BJP spokesman Hitesh Bajpai told IANS.

The BJP leader even termed it a healthy competition and most welcome.

“There is nothing wrong in such an exercise as we live a public life and nothing is hidden,” he added.
