“The NDA authorities alerted us about a fake cadet Anmol Banotra, 18, who joined the academy Dec 30 and stayed at the premises for four days,” an official from Pune’s Warje Malwadi Police Station told IANS.

“He was arrested late Wednesday and was produced in court Thursday. He has been remanded to police custody till January 13,” he added.

Banotra was found when the NDA authorities realised that there was a cadet more than their regular count.

“The authorities verified the documents of all candidates and found Banotra’s to be fake and then turned him in,” the official said.

The NDA confirmed the development.

“One Mr. Anmol Banotra tried to join the 127th NDA course by using fraudulent/fake documents. He has been nabbed and handed over to the police by the NDA authorities,” it said in a statement.
