Authorities declared the outbreak of the deadly rat fever leptospirosis Monday. Over 300 people were infected.

Cases were reported from flood-hit Cagayan de Oro and Iligan cities, Xinhu reported.

Doctor Joselito Retuya of Cagayan de Oro said all flood-affected people living in the evacuation centres have been vaccinated. They were displaced by the tropical storm Washi Dec 16 that killed over 1,250 people.

The storm brought massive rains, causing floods in central and southern Philippines.
