Afif, Nurul Huda among Jeevan Raksha awardees

New Delhi: The President of India has approved the conferment of Jeevan Raksha Padak Awards- 2011. In all, 43 persons will be honored with the award in three categories — Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak (2), Uttam Jeevan Raksha Padak (6) and Jeevan Raksha Padak (35). They will get medal, certificate and a cash prize.

C. Lalduhawma (Posthumous) of Mizoram and Om Prakash of Uttar Pradesh have been selected for the Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak while Uttam Jeevan Raksha Padak will go to six, five of whom posthumously. They are Rajesh alias Bablu Kushwahava (Posthumous) (Uttar Pradesh), Kapil Negi (Posthumous) (Uttarakhand), Nawtinder Singh (Posthumous) (Punjab), Bishnu Prasad Shrestha (Jharkhand), Ms. Shruti Lodhi (Posthumous) (Uttarakhand) and Ms. Chhampa Kanwar (Posthumous) (Rajasthan).

The list of 35 Jeevan Raksha Padak awardees includes Afif Backer. A. (Kerala), Md. Nurul Huda (Manipur) and Mohammad Shawayz Siddiqui (Uttar Pradesh).

Jeevan Raksha Padak series of awards are given to a person for meritorious act of humane nature in saving the life of a person.

The decoration of the award (medal, certificate signed by the Home Minister and demand draft for lump sum monetary allowance) will be presented to the awardees in due course by the respective State Government to which the awardees belong. The lump sum monetary allowance is given at the rate of Rs.75,000, Rs.45,000 and Rs.30,000 to the Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak, Uttam Jeevan Raksha Padak and Jeevan Raksha Padak awardee respectively.
