Maximum temperatures fall in Punjab, Haryana

Chandigarh : While the minimum temperatures in Punjab and Haryana have not hit sub-zero levels in the past week, it is the maximum temperatures at most places that have taken a downslide.

Amritsar city recorded a maximum of 12.2 degrees Celsius in the past 24 hours to Sunday morning, seven degrees below average. The city received heavy rainfall and hail through Saturday. The minimum temperature recorded here was two degrees.

The industrial city of Ludhiana recorded a high of 13.6 degrees in the past 24 hours, five degrees below average.

People in some parts of Punjab, such as Pathankot and Hoshiarpur districts were in for a surprise Saturday as white mantle covered their surroundings.

In Haryana, Ambala had a high of 16 degrees, three degrees below average.

Chandigarh recorded a high of 15.4 degrees, five degrees below average. The minimum temperature here was four degrees.
