Rajasthan announces special package for Bhanwari Devi’s kids

By IANS,

Jaipur: The Rajasthan government Sunday announced a special package to help the three children of nurse Bhanwari Devi, who was killed after being kidnapped, an official said.

“On the instructions of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, we have prepared a special package for the nurse’s three children,” a senior official told IANS.

The package comprises of a government job for the son and other financial benefits for the children.

The nurse’s 18-year old son Sahil and two daughters, Ashwini and Gungun, aged 15 and 5 years respectively, were finding it difficult to survive since their mother disappeared Sep 1.

The troubles mounted for the family when the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested their father Amarchand for his alleged role in the disappearance of the nurse.

The CBI has also officially confirmed before the Rajasthan High Court that Bhanwari Devi is dead.

Sahil had stopped going to college as he remains busy dealing with the court cases surrounding his parents while the elder daughter had been suspended from her school for remaining absent for three months. The youngest daughter is entangled in paternity dispute as it is alleged that she is the daughter of Malkhan Singh Bishnoi, the Congress legislator from Luni constituency.

“Sahil will be given a job equivalent to the position of a junior clerk in the health and medical department in place of his mother Bhanwari Devi who was posted as an auxiliary nurse and midwife at the a health center in Jodhpur rural,” the officer said.

Besides this, the government has announced cash compensation of Rs.2 lakh for each of two daughters. The money will be used at the time of their marriage.

The children will be able to avail free boarding and lodging at any hostel of state’s social justice and welfare department. Each of the children will be given Rs.675 every month under the government’s Palanhar Scheme along with an annual assistance of Rs.2,000.

Bhanwari Devi, allegedly shown in a compromising position with former minister Mahipal Maderna in a CD, had gone missing Sep 1, 2011.

In a charge-sheet filed by the CBI, it was alleged that three men kidnapped the nurse from Jodhpur’s Bilara area Sep 1, killed her and then handed over her body to Bishnaram Bishnoi.

According to sources close to the CBI, Maderna and Malkhan Singh were hand in glove in the conspiracy as the nurse was blackmailing both of them.

The two politicians allegedly roped in Sahiram Bishnoi, who hired Sohan Lal, Balia and Shahabuddin for kidnapping the nurse.

Apart from Maderna and Malkhan Singh, the three kidnappers and Sahiram have been arrested by the CBI.

The CBI also arrested Malkhan’s brother Parasram Bishnoi as well as two others – Umesharam and Omprakash Bishnoi.
