Lucknow : Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Javed Usmani Saturday directed police and administrative officials to spruce up law and order.
He said officials should be available to listen to complaints of people and address their problems.
Usmani said corporate investment in the state was directly linked to a conducive and peaceful work atmosphere, hence the government would not tolerate any carelessness on the law and order front.
Talking to the divisional commissioners, inspectors general of police, range deputy inspectors general of police and other officials, the chief secretary told them to keep a close watch on forces which may attempt to disturb communal harmony.
He said cases of transformer thefts had grown alarmingly in Agra, Aligarh, Kanpur, Chitrakoot and Jhansi divisions and should be stopped immediately.
