Force India optimistic about chances in Hungarian GP

Budapest : Sahara Force India is optimistic about the rest of the Formula One season at the halfway mark and wants to strengthen their position in the championship table in this weekend’s Hungarian Grand Prix to be held here at the Hungaroring.

Team principal Vijay Mallya said that Force India had the best start in the season in terms of points scored.

“So from that perspective I am satisfied and proud of what we have achieved in the first ten races. Our drivers are doing an excellent job and we are working well as a team so there are lots of reasons to be positive. But at the same time I’m all too aware that we have a big fight on our hands to reclaim our sixth position in the championship,” said Mallya.

British driver Paul di Resta is also pleased by what they have achieved so far as a team in the current season.

“As a team we have to be pleased with the start we’ve had to the year. We’ve had some strong races and scored more points compared to the same time last year. We seem to have one of the more consistent cars in terms of performance and I think traditionally we’ve been a team that gets stronger as the year progresses. With ten races still to go there are a lot of points on offer and a long way to go in the championship,” said di Resta.

The team’s second driver, former GP2 champion Nico Hulkenberg, who finished ninth earning two points in last weekend’s German Grand Prix said that they will be fighting for points in Hungary.

“I think we should be able to fight for points because we recently looked quite strong on circuits that don’t have so many fast corners, such as Valencia. Although it’s quite a slow circuit, it’s very difficult to get a good lap time because you need to hook up all the corners perfectly, so it’s quite challenging,” said Hulkenberg.
