Haryana offers land for cargo airport

Chandigarh : The Haryana government has offered nearly 2,770 acres of land to the central government to set up a Greenfield cargo airport, an official said Sunday.

Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has urged Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh to consider the offer of land, said a spokesman for the state government.

The state has offered the land in Meham inf Rohtak district, 50 km from Delhi.

The proposal for the cargo airport for international operations has been sent through the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corp (HSIIDC).

Hooda said an area of about 2,770 acres has already been identified for the project which would be purchased from private parties.

He said the displacement of population would be assessed and would be taken care of as per the rehabilitation and resettlement (R&R) policy of the Haryana government.
