Lucknow: After getting good support of Muslims which catapulted the Samajwadi Party (SP) to power in UP assembly elections earlier this year, the Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav took care of Muslim welfare in his maiden budget presented on Friday (1st June 2012).
As per the budget, the total allocation for Minority Welfare is now Rs 2074.11 crores which is 81 percent more than previous year.
In the previous fiscal there was a provision of Rs 50 crores for Madarsa/Maktabs which has been enhanced to 100 crores.
For the scholarships to students up to Class X a provision of Rs 342.94 crores has been made while for post Class X a sum of Rs 130.53 crores has been allocated.
For the Multi Sectoral Development Programme, a sum of Rs 480.44 crores has been allocated to the selected districts.
A sum of Rs 200 crores has been earmarked for boundaries of graveyards.
A sum of Rs 100 crores has been earmarked for financial assistance to every girl student of BPL family in Muslims after clearing Class X for her marriage or further studies.
For the weavers a sum of Rs 127.60 crores has been earmarked to pay their pending power dues. For waiving off the loans of weavers Rs 50 crores has been allocated. For the Integrated Hathkargha Development Scheme, 17000 weavers will be benefited with a sum of Rs 33.25 crores.
For the Muslim localities in urban areas, roads, interlocking, drains etc will be done and a provision of Rs 100 crores has been done for this.
Jauhar University in Rampur, the brainchild of cabinet minister Azam Khan gets Rs 10 crores.
