Two woman, a girl child and three men were buried alive while 12 others sustained injuries when an under-construction building in Kota, some 250 km from here, caved in around 11.30 p.m. Monday.

“The victims were labourers and their family members who were sleeping in the building after finishing their work during the day. The supporting pillars were displaced due to a heavy dust storm, resulting in the building collapse,” a police officer told IANS. The victims included a five-year old girl.

“Rescue operations continued till Tuesday morning. Those who sustained injuries are undergoing treatment at a government hospital in Kota,” said the officer.

In another mishap, a 27-year old labourer was killed while 12 others sustained injuries when the wall of an under-construction temple collapsed in Jaipur’s Pratap Nagar area.

“The mishap occurred Tuesday morning. A part of temple was under-construction. There was a crowd of devotees also. However, they were at a safe distance,” said a police officer. The deceased has been identified as Radheshyam, a resident of Madhya Pradesh.
