New Delhi : The government has constituted a seven-member Metro Advisory Board headed by the urban development secretary which will help formulating plans for Metro rail networks across the country.
“For assisting and advising the government on Metro rail networks, the Metro Advisory Board has been set up,” Urban Development Secretary Sudhir Krishna told reporters here Thursday.
Krishna said the board would formulate and coordinate plans for the development of Metro railways and their expansion. The matters related to financing and execution of Metro rail projects would also be looked after by it.
“The board would also facilitate exchange of information on planning, technical and managerial issues among various Metro rail projects,” he said.
The first meeting of the Metro Advisory Board will be held June 29 in Lucknow.
Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the urban development ministry, S.K. Lohia will be the member secretary of the board.
