UP power corporation to open 168 online billing centres

Lucknow : Buoyed by the success of online billing services, the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) Thursday said it will soon open online payment facilities at 168 centres across the state.

Announcing this after a review meeting, UPPCL chairman cum managing director Avanish Awasthi told IANS that a meeting with representatives of HCL Technologies, Infosys and Tulip Telecom has already been held.

Officials say that 168 more centres would be added in a phased manner to the already existing 32 centres. By June 15, Mughal Sarai, Atrauli, Bijnor, Firozabad, Allahabad, Gorakhpur, Raebareli, Shahjahanpur, Noida and Ghaziabad, among others, will have online billing system.

From July 12, Farukhabad, Jalesar, Banda, Etawah, Jhansi, Bahraich, Budayun, Sardhana and Gadhmukteshwar, among others, will also get the online billing service, officials said.

In the next phase, UPPCL is also working at initiating a process wherein consumer complaints would be taken on e-mails and through SMSs.
