Lucknow: A huge cache of explosives was recovered from a village in Uttar Pradesh’s Mahoba district Saturday and three people arrested, police said.
The seizure of over 200 kg of banned ammonium nitrate was made from a village in the Karbai region of Mahoba, 184 km from here.
The three arrested were identified as Lakhan Singh, Nathu Sahu and Sonu.
Police raided the village on a tip off, Superintendent of Police Anand Kulkarni told IANS.
The stockpile of the explosive could have led to a massive explosion, police said.
Police are currently interrogating the arrested trio.
Open sale, purchase and manufacture of ammonium nitrate was banned in India last year after it was found that it had been used in many bomb blasts in the country.
