Former CPI-M MP’s husband and son-in-law held for forgery

Kolkata : Former Communist Party of India-Marxist(CPI-M) parliamentarian Sarala Maheshwari’s husband Arun Maheswari and son-in-law Amitabh Kejriwal were arrested Sunday on charges of forgery and sent to 10 days’ police custody by a court here.

“Arun Maheshwari and Amitabh Kejriwal were arrested Sunday morning and have been remanded to 10 days police custody by the Bidhannagar court for allegedly making forged documents,” an official of the Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate, told IANS.

The duo have been accused of forging PAN and voter identity cards of relatives and servants, and using these to run some organisations. Kejriwal was also arrested in 2011 for allegedly forging a land deed.

Maheswari’s home had earlier been raided by Income Tax officials for alleged undeclared assets of her family.
