Islamabad : Resident women in Pakistan’s Rawalpindi city can now enjoy their evenings taking a leisurely stroll in their neighbourhood schools where playgrounds have been converted into parks.
Under a novel initiative of local authorities, at least 10 government school grounds have been converted into evening parks for ladies and children. The first such park was inaugurated Friday by Senator Najma Hameed, Daily Times reported.
It is hoped that these parks will encourage health related activities among women.
The move has been welcomed by resident women, as they believe exclusive ladies parks would encourage all women who, otherwise, feel shy to visit public parks.
