The court issued notice to the state government and others over the alleged inaccuracies in the preliminary exam held by the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) Dec 21, 2011.

The apex court vacation bench of Justice H.L. Gokhale and Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai stayed the June 30 main examination for selection of civil judges (junior division) on a plea filed by candidate Kalu Ram Gujjar and others.

Gujjar, who appeared in the December 2011 preliminary exam, said there were factual inaccuracies in the question paper.

The petition said there were some questions with multiple choice answers but some questions had no correct answer among the options.

The answers to some of the questions were wrong resulting in the faulty evaluation, it said.

Following objections, the RPSC, on its own, deleted 14 questions and changed the option of 11 questions, the petition said.

Appearing for the petitioner, counsel Sushil Kumar Jain told the court that the examination so conducted by the RPSC had become a farce and could not be held valid.

The petitioner challenged the Rajasthan High Court verdict by which it accepted the RPSC proposal that it would revise the results of the preliminary exam before the June 30 main exam.

The RPSC May 28 announced the revised results declaring that 297 candidates who were earlier found eligible to appear in the main exam would not be allowed to do so.

The petition said that the high court order because of which 297 examinees were declared ineligible without being heard should be quashed.
