The court also directed Junaid, 23, and Favvad, 29, to join the probe as and when called by the investigating officer.

Hearing their plea, Justice Veena Birbal said: “Bail granted to petitioners on furnishing bond of Rs 25,000 with one surety of like amount.”

The court’s direction came after counsel appearing for the petitioners informed that the victim’s absconding mother-in-law surrendered to the police June 21.

The court had earlier directed the mother-in-law of Iffat Hayat, who died April 21 in central Delhi, to surrender by June 21. Hayat’s husband Jabvad Tariq is in judicial custody.

Hayat’s father lodged complaint at Lahori Gate police station here April 20 saying that his daughter married Tariq in October 2010 but when she gave birth to a girl child her husband and mother-in-law started harassing her for dowry.

The complainant said Tariq informed one of their relatives April 19 that Hayat had consumed poison and was in hospital. She died April 21.

Appearing for the state, advocate Mukesh Gupta told the court that the victim was forced to consume poison by her husband and in-laws.

The court June 11 granted anticipatory bail to Hayat’s two sisters-in-law.
