Moscow : Encouraging Russians to continue working after retirement can be an alternative to raising the retirement age, according to Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov.
“The issue of the retirement age can be solved not by increasing it but by encouraging our citizens to continue working after retirement,” Siluanov has told a news channel.
According to Siluanov, the government is currently preparing a proposal on pension reform; the question of its necessity is actively being discussed in the cabinet.
“I think that soon we will develop proposals that will become the basis for the pension reform,” said the minister.
Previously, the Russian finance ministry did not rule out the possibility of raising the retirement age.
After the International Monetary Fund’s latest mission to Russia, it recommended raising the retirement age for men and women to 63 years in 2030 and to 65 years by 2050.
