New Delhi : A total of Rs.5.32 crore was collected in penalties from evaders of the value added tax (VAT) during June 18-22 period by the Delhi government’s trade and taxes department, a statement said Tuesday.
As part of an on-going special drive to check tax evasion, the trade and taxes department of the Delhi government raided 24 dealers engaged in trading and manufacturing in Delhi and three units were sealed, it said.
“We are making intensive efforts to ensure full tax compliance and as part of these efforts the department shall continue to organise regular checking to detect evasion of VAT in Delhi,” said the statement.
