Kolkata: A hearing-impaired Madrasa girl, student of Class IX and a National Gold Medal winner alleged that she was raped by an auto-rickshaw driver on Sunday night.
According to victim’s complaint she was returning home after her tuition when Ranjit Das, the auto-rickshaw driver instead of taking her home kidnapped and raped her. In the morning the victim along with her family went to the Hemtabad Police Station of North Dinajpur district of West Bengal.
The rapist is now under 14-days police remand.
The victim is the eldest daughter of a Muslim daily laborer. She has won numerous prizes at state and national level athletic meets.
When TwoCircles.net contacted Retd. Justice Intaj Ali Shah, the Chairman of the State Minority Commission about this matter, he claimed that he didn’t know that victim was Muslim as newspapers did not report the name. He promised to enquire into the matter and provide help to the victim.
